How to Create a Sales Generating Ad?

At CashAndHits.com, the right email ad can make or break your campaign. Therefore, I'm glad you're reading this tutorial, investing a few extra minutes to draft out the perfect ad can make the difference between a successful or disappointing experience at CashAndHits.com.

When writing an ad for your business, the first thing you must do is think about who it is that you are advertising to and how. At CashAndHits.com, your ads go out to four types of people:
1- C&H News e-zine subscribers, whom opt in to get ads in exchange for incentives.
2- CashAndHits Customers, whom opt in to ensure there ads are sent.
3- Business minded people. Our subscribers are looking for ways to make money, whether it is by advertising their site or reading e-zine ads.
4- Average people. All of our subscribers have one thing in common; they have non business related needs.

The key to generating a sale inducing ad is in creating an ad that will get the attention of these potential customers. Tune in to what their needs are and you will find a way to get their attention and sales.

Once you figure out what the needs of the subscribers are, you must look through your site and see what would appeal to: a person looking to generate money online, to a person looking to grow their business and/or to a person who wants to improve his/her life overall. Once you find it, compile a list of the benefits your site has to offer.

Now, choose the one that is the most appealing. This is crucial you need to look at each benefit and determine which one is the one that will cause the reader to go from reading your ad to get a prize to actually opening your site and looking at what it is that you offer. Keep in mind, that it isn't enough to simply find a good benefit, it must be unique. The uniqueness, can be in the price (industry lowest), in product quality (guaranteed to work) or added by you (free bonus with purchase). However, I must warn you if you are providing a bonus, it shouldn't be something useless (a free e-book that is being offered as a bonus on 100's of sites is worthless), it should be something that enhances your products effectiveness or lowers your products price (a discount code or an exclusive sale page).

Once you have your unique benefit you need to write an attention getting subject. Meaning in 5 words or less you need to let the reader know that you are offering this amazingly unique benefit. The subject is the heart of your campaign. The customers that are looking for their own ads, are not looking to open the emails of other customers, they are scanning subject lines in search of their own ad. That is why you must lure them with your subject to open the email, read your ad and visit your site.

As for the body of your ad, opinions vary widely as to what is the proper length of an ad. It is my personal opinion that the shorter the ad the better. Your ad is a preview of what your site has to offer, it should list main benefits, and not go into details. If you can, create an ad of 6 lines or less, where each line provides a potent reason for the customer to visit your site.

The above mentioned, is my recommendation as far as the length and content of an ad goes. Still, there is another key element of an ad that is hardly ever mentioned... layout. It is my opinion that an ad should never be a paragraph, as it is hard to make a certain item STAND OUT in a paragraph, unless you do as I did and make one element of the paragraph prominent somehow. If you choose to go with the paragraph layout you must BE CAREFUL as using the same TECHNIQUE to make features POP over and over again, causes the reader to IGNORE the highlighted FEATURES all together. My preferred layout is the Headline/List/Text Link layout.

How does it Work?

* Quite simple you start with a short 3-7 word header
* You follow by listing 2-4 key features/benefits preceded by bullets.

Then you end with the MOST UNIQUE feature right above your URL.
http://www.YOUR_URL.com

If you follow the above guidelines, you will have an ad that will probably generate many visits and sales for you. Remember your ad is competing with up to 4 other ads which the subscriber is receiving so you must make your unique feature truly UNIQUE.
